Michelle Wells
Senior Events Manager
What inspired you to get into the hospitality industry? I developed a love for the hospitality industry from an early age, helping my dad wash glasses in our family-owned pub. That early experience sparked a genuine passion for working with people and creating memorable experiences. I’ve always been drawn to the variety the industry offers, no two days are ever the same, and the opportunity to play a part in some of the most meaningful moments in people’s lives is what led me into studying and now working in event management.
How would you describe yourself to someone who’d never met you? I would describe myself as approachable, caring, organised and genuinely passionate about what I do. I take great such pride in delivering 5star events and building strong relationships with our clients. I treat every client how I would want to be treaded.
What is your favourite event space the Hotel?
My favourite event space in the hotel is undoubtedly the Stuart Suite. This elegant space is incredibly versatile, making it the perfect setting for a wide range of events. Clients are always impressed by the high ceilings, chandeliers and stunning views overlooking the Belfast Lough.
Who do you look up to/who inspires you?
Our MD James McGinn is a huge inspiration to me. His recent MBE is a testament to his dedication, and his passion for hospitality is truly inspiring. He sets a fantastic example of excellence within the industry.
What’s your greatest passion outside work and family?
I love spending quality time outdoors with my family and friends, whether that’s going for long walks or enjoying great food. It’s the perfect way to relax and recharge.
What makes you proud about working for Hastings Hotels?
I’m really proud to be part of such a dedicated team who care so much about the service we deliver. We always support each other and go the extra mile, we treat each other like family. We have such a fantastic reputation for creating amazing experiences, and it’s a great feeling to be part of that every day.

Chloe Girvin
Events Manager
What inspired you to get into the hospitality industry?
Coming from a retail background I really enjoyed the customer service aspect of the job. However, there is only so well you can get to know the customer while putting their shopping through the till. Going into University and securing my degree in Leisure and Events management, I knew that a career in a hotel would be the next step. Working in Hospitality allows you to make real personal connections with the client and this is one of the aspects I enjoy themost about my job.
How would you describe yourself to someone who’d never met you?
I would say I am extremely hard working, up for a challenge and fairly tech savvy. Some would say I’m the tech support of the events department.
What is your favourite event space the Hotel?
My favourite event space in the hotel is definitely the Holywood suite. This room is so multifunctional that it is the perfect space for any event. My clients always mention the beautiful views from the lounge and the private terrace off the suite makes a perfect setting for a summer drinks reception.
What is your favourite part of event/wedding planning?
I love seeing how different every event is at the Culloden. From layout, to décor, to occasion no two events are ever the same! I always say to my clients to make their occasion their own and I can honestly say they truly have. I love seeing their personality come through in their planning and vibes of the event on the day and this is why each occasion is so special.
Who do you look up to/who inspires you?
Professionally I would honestly say our lovely Senior Events Manager Michelle inspires me! As a full time working Mum she balances her busy work life with the demands of her three lovely kids. No client request is ever too much trouble and she really goes above and beyond for all of the events that she manages. As a co-ordinator, the world of events seemed so daunting and she was there to lend a hand every step of the way and helped me reach my goal of becoming Assistant Events Manager of the department within a year of me working at Culloden and I can never thank her enough for her guidance.
What’s your greatest passion outside work and family?
Naturally the world of events can become stressful during peak season and I have found that joining the gym has really helped me mentally and this has quickly turned into a passion of mine. Although I will not be entering a strong man competition any time soon, this has really lent itself to become an excellent de-stress tool for me.
What makes you proud about working for Hastings Hotels?
Starting in Hastings I was not aware of how collaborative all of the properties are and how willing all the staff are to lend a hand. Our staff are so supportive of each other and if this means helping in another property, we are all willing to roll up our sleeves and work.

Ailie Greer

What inspired you to get into the hospitality industry?
From entering the hospitality industry at 16 and waitressing at my local I found a passion for making others feel welcome and cared for. I love playing a part in making a guest’s day better and creating memorable experiences for them.
How would you describe yourself to someone who’d never met you?
I would describe myself as someone who is outgoing and genuinely enjoys meeting new people and working as part of a team. Professionally, I am focussed on all the finer details and thrive in environments where creativity and enthusiasm is present!
What is your favourite event space the Hotel?
The drawing room is my favourite event space on the estate. It has a traditional elegant style with beautiful views and captures the history of the property beautifully.
What is your favourite part of event/wedding planning?
Seeing everything coming together! Building a relationship with my clients and seeing how pleased they are with the outcome is always a joy.
Who do you look up to/who inspires you?
Michael Campbell our events and operations manager never fails to put a smile on anyone’s face, he is dedicated, hardworking and a joy to work with.
Michelle Wells our senior events manager inspires me through her kind and encouraging demeanour. Michelle is always supportive and there when anyone needs guidance, I hope to lead like her one day!
What’s your greatest passion outside work and family?
My greatest passion outside of work is travel, I am reminded of all the beautiful parts of the world that I have still yet to see and experience.
What makes you proud about working for Hastings Hotels?
I am very fortunate and proud to work for an organisation that genuinely invests in their people. Hasting’s hotels have supported me in balancing both work and study, offering flexibility, encouragement and understanding the need to succeed in both. This experience has allowed me to grow professionally while continuing my education, something I value and appreciate.
